At Lower Plenty Osteopathy we are experienced in the diagnosis and management of a wide variety of conditions including neck and back pain, headaches, sporting injuries, arthritis, repetitive strain injury and workplace injuries.

With a diverse skill set and years of experience, our practitioners tailor treatments to suit your needs. At Lower Plenty Osteopathy your wellbeing is our key priority.

Karen Shaw

After completing her osteopathic studies at RMIT University in 1995, Karen commenced practice in both Ballarat and Montmorency allowing her to provide treatment to a wide range of patients from many varied backgrounds.

After 10 years working in a multidisciplinary environment, Karen opened Lower Plenty Osteopathy in 2005. Karen has been an active member of the Osteopathy Australia, having been a member of the Victorian committee, organizing seminar programs for osteopathic ongoing professional development. She uses a wide variety of osteopathic techniques, enabling her to tailor her treatments to suit the individual requirements of each and every patient. This has resulted in Karen providing the osteopathic care to many families, from infants to grandparents. Karen loves spending time with her two beautiful children, watching a good game of football and catching up with family and friends.

Brad Robinson

Brad completed a degree in Human Movement before graduating from RMIT University with a double degree in Osteopathic Science and Applied Science (Clinical Science) in 2004.

He worked in private clinics in the city centre and the suburbs of Melbourne before spending 2007-08 in Norway. Whilst in Norway he took the opportunity to travel a little, learn new approaches to patient care and lectured technique at the School of Osteopathy in Oslo. Brad treats a broad range of conditions and uses a wide variety of osteopathic techniques, tailoring treatment to the individual patient’s needs. He relates well to people of all ages and provides a consistently high level of care in a comfortable treatment environment.

Brad keeps active through body weight exercises and running, enjoys treating running related injuries and is also able to undertake running gait assessments. He has played a variety of sports, most notably Australian Rules football, and is involved in basketball through his 2 children.

Yiing Chen

Yiing graduated from RMIT university in 2010 and has been practicing at Lower Plenty Osteopathy for 14 years. She has a passion for helping people and is committed to educating and helping her patients understand their condition and how to best manage it.

Yiing has a keen interest in the treatment of chronic conditions, in particular chronic low back, neck and shoulder pain, and headaches experienced by many desk workers and labourers. She also loves to help pregnant women navigate the many physical challenges that often arise during pregnancy and beyond. Yiing’s direct yet gentle approach to treatment is suitable for people of all ages, including young babies and children. She regularly attends seminars to expand on her knowledge and skills to ensure she provides the most up to date and comprehensive treatments for her patients. In her spare time, Yiing enjoys keeping active through cycling, running and playing basketball with her kids.

Tom grew up in Melbourne’s North East suburbs playing high-level football and basketball for local clubs. For as long as he could remember, Tom was fascinated by anatomy/biology; which led him towards Osteopathy as a career choice.

Additionally, he’d witnessed his teammates struggling with ongoing injuries, who sought relief from Osteopaths and thus returned to sport pain free. These experiences inspired him to study Osteopathy, so that he too could help people reach their full potential and improve the quality of their lives. He is passionate about working with his patients to help them reach their treatment and rehabilitation goals, so they can enjoy their daily activities such as gardening, walking or golf, without the aches and pains, or to help them achieve their exercise goals at gym/pilates. Tom’s treatment directive revolves around patient education and understanding, which will enable his patients to better understand their musculoskeletal conditions, and further their ability to help improve their overall level of health. He adopts a wide range of osteopathic techniques and enjoys treating people of all age groups. He is also qualified to perform dry needling and myofascial cupping. Tom’s hobbies include: football, gym and generally staying active.

Erin grew up in Melbourne, where she completed her degree in Osteopathy at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT). Since graduating in 2018, Erin gained valuable knowledge and experience as a practitioner,treating at two private multidisciplinary practices in the Northern Beaches, Sydney and Cairns, respectively. This has helped shape Erin to become the holistic practitioner she is today.

Erin is passionate about treating patients of all ages including children. She utilises an holistic approach and a variety of techniques in her treatment sessions to assist her patients in returning to good health and improving their quality of life. She believes in the importance of understanding the root cause of the problem and developing tailored treatment plans that meet individual patient needs.

Erin is particularly interested in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including headaches, jaw, and neck pain. She is also passionate about women’s health and enjoys treating women throughout their pre and post natal journey. Erin further completed both level 1 and level 2 trigger point dry needling, myofascial cupping techniques, and craniosacral therapy and has since gained significant experience utilising these skills.

Erin may incorporate a variety of treatment techniques into her appointments including; soft tissue massage, articulation, joint manipulation, postural retraining, craniosacral therapy, and exercise rehabilitation programs.

In her spare time, Erin loves spending time with her friends and family, travelling and walking her beloved dalmatian, Lilah.
